Oceans5 is strengthening our engineering team and is looking for a Specialist / Principal Engineer to support complex marine installation projects through independent advisory services, engineering, and technical consultancy. In this role, you will play a key part in the planning, engineering, and execution of subsea and offshore cable installation campaigns, working closely with both engineers and offshore operations personnel.

Responsibilities

As a Specialist / Principal Engineer – Cable Installation, your responsibilities may include:

  • Lead and perform engineering and planning of subsea and offshore cable installation operations
  • Preparation and review of installation methodologies, procedures, and work packages
  • Provide independent technical advice and engineering consultancy to clients across project phases  
  • Technical follow-up of cable installation activities during offshore execution
  • Close collaboration with offshore personnel, project managers, and clients
  • Contributing to continuous improvement of engineering methods, safety, and operational efficiency
  • Supporting tender work and early-phase engineering
  • For principal-level candidates: technical leadership, mentoring of engineers, and contribution to strategic development of Oceans5’s cable installation advisory and engineering competence  

Qualifications

We are looking for candidates with a strong technical foundation and practical understanding of marine operations:

  • BSc or MSc in marine technology, mechanical engineering, naval architecture, or a related discipline
  • Relevant experience with subsea or offshore cable installation projects
  • Experience from offshore execution or close operational follow-up is an advantage
  • Knowledge of installation analysis tools (e.g. OrcaFlex) is an advantage
  • Structured, proactive, and able to manage your own tasks and priorities
  • Fluent in English, written and spoken
